Clearly, it is time for revolution. We are spending our money with people and corporations that do not care about our well-being. One of the most powerful things you can do in an unjust capitalist system is vote with your dollars.
When you hear people talk about keeping your vibes high and raising your frequency, there’s so much more to that than just smiling and having a good attitude. Do you know who suffered to make the clothes that you’re wearing right now? Do you know where your food is coming from? We need to become conscious consumers.
At a time when social safety nets are under attack, it becomes imperative that we support our local community. As the fires rain down from the ivory towers of greed and hatred, standing together is the very best thing that we can do in the near term.
Those who are inclined to act on our behalf, and are specialized in particular areas, will activate and do what must be done. In the meantime, you need to survive and take care of those that you love. Keep it local, keep it small, and when you have to engage in commerce at a distance, be as thoughtful as you can about what you buy and what you consume.
Imagine if every dollar that you spent supported freedom, wellness and wellbeing. Yes, I am speaking to people in the United States right now, but this is true of anywhere in the world. We can absolutely rebuild the world to be more inclusive, equitably abundant, loving, kind, and safe for everyone in it— including those who disagree with us. We can all win without oppressing ANYONE.
If the front lines scare you and you don’t know how important your part is, and maybe your vote didn’t do anything to save us—think about what small conveniences you can sacrifice that together will stop rewarding institutions that harm us. Boycott Target and Walmart and shop at Costco instead.
We went along with all of this willingly, not realizing how high the stakes were. But our eyes are open now and it’s time for us to show the world how powerful we are.
Let’s stop funding our own oppression. Do you want our lives, rights, safety, and freedoms taken seriously? I truly wish Orange Lord Voldemort was not following the 1940s German playbook for the destruction of people and society, but he is.
This message is primarily for Black, Indigenous, people of Color, allies, immigrants, people with disabilities, LGBTQ people, women, the under-resourced, and everyone who gives a flying fuck about freedom. Notice how many of us they want to oppress? If we stand together, we defeat this— and pretty damn quickly too.
The single, most impactful thing that you can do is one of the easiest. You don’t have to march on all of the front lines. But you don’t have to take your hard earned money and hand it to people who hate you and the people you love.
The oligarchs will be the destruction of this nation, and the only message that they will understand is the economic impact on their precious bottom lines. I am documenting my process for downsizing my digital dependencies so you can see some of the obstacles you’ll have to overcome and make your own plan to navigate them. Unfortunately, there is no one size fits all solution, but we can all contribute by hitting them where they live.
Shop Black. Shop LGBTQ. Shop local. Shop less. This country doesn’t stand strong and prosperous without our labor, whether that is the extractive, exploitative work they demand of us, or us recirculating our hard earned money back into their pockets. If you think about it, it’s pretty twisted.
Sure, it will be a little inconvenient in the short term, but in the long-term, as I have said on here many times before, we will win. And this is one of the paths to victory. Stay strong, and be diligent.
